The impact and benefits of the initiative

Find out more about our impact and the long-term benefits of the initiative:

Creating a greener and sustainable future

The planting of trees represents a symbolic act of nurturing the environment, and the initiative seeks to emphasise the importance of such acts for a healthier planet.

The elected Little Green Ambassadors will play a vital role in educating their fellow students and promoting eco-friendly habits and fostering a culture of sustainability within their school community. By participating in this initiative, schools collectively contribute to the broader goal of creating a greener and more sustainable future. By engaging students, teachers, and the wider school community, the initiative encourages active participation in environmental conservation.

Future prospects

By engaging students at a young age, the initiative aims to instil a sense of responsibility and stewardship towards the environment, creating a foundation for a more sustainable future.

In essence, the Old Mutual Namibia Little Green Ambassadors project empowers schools to become champions of sustainability, fostering environmental consciousness among the younger generation and inspiring them to be proactive stewards of the planet.

The initiative is open to all primary schools (public and private) across all 14 regions of Namibia. We will be selecting two schools per region to be the recipients of the trees.

The trees will be judged on the growth of the trees, how well the trees have been taken care of and maintained and the awareness the Little Green Ambassadors have been able to spread in their schools.

Schools will not receive the prize money in cash but will have to supply the Old Mutual Foundation with quotes for items/essentials needed at their schools. The Old Mutual Foundation will then assist in procuring these items.

Schools can involve teachers, students, parents, and local communities in their efforts, spreading awareness and fostering a collaborative approach to environmental conservation.

Proposals should outline how the school plans to promote environmental awareness and sustainability, while the videos can creatively showcase the school's commitment to these goals.

There is no cost associated with participating in the initiative. It's an opportunity for schools to contribute to a greener future without financial obligations.

Schools can follow Old Mutual Namibia’s official communication channels or visit their website for updates and information related to the initiative's progress.
