What is Old Mutual SEED?

The Old Mutual Sustainable, Economic and Empowerment Drive (OM SEED) is a flagship initiative we committed to over a 4-year period, starting in 2022 and concluding in 2025. Each year, OM SEED focuses on empowering grassroots entrepreneurs in selected towns across Namibia’s 14 regions.

For the final edition of the programme in 2025, we have specifically selected the towns of Gobabis, Otjiwarongo, Outapi, and Opuwo, as these locations are strategically positioned to drive meaningful impact in deeply rooted communities across the Omaheke, Otjozondjupa, Omusati, and Kunene regions.

The purpose of OM SEED is to stimulate local entrepreneurship and promote the growth of inclusive, sustainable businesses. By providing seed capital, mentorship, and capacity-building opportunities, the initiative aims to support job creation and skills development for Namibians, ensuring long-term economic resilience and empowerment at community level.

How it works

Applicants need to be:

  • All applicants must be Namibian citizens or have permanent residency in Namibia.
  • Applicants must complete the application form and hand deliver to the participating town’s selected Old Mutual branch.
  • Only qualifying applicants will be considered to participate.
  • The qualifying participants’ names will be posted at the participating town’s selected Old Mutual branch, and they will be eligible to participate in OM SEED.
  • The qualifying 10 participants (in each town) will be required to showcase their products or services to the judges to qualify for the funding.
  • Entrepreneurs based in the participating towns or surrounding areas will be given priority.
  • Each town will have three winners announced at the award ceremony. This results in a total of twelve overall winners.
  • The winners will be required to participate in the creation of a video on day three (as per the specific towns schedule) and an incubation period of three months after winning OM SEED.
  • Old Mutual Namibia, UNDP Accelerator Lab employees and their direct family members(parents, siblings and children) are not eligible to apply.
