Transforming learning spaces across Namibia
For 2025, following an open application process, the Old Mutual Foundation proudly announced the selected beneficiary schools from the Kavango East, Kavango West, Hardap, and Khomas regions. Each school will receive 100 new or repaired desks and chairs, further extending the initiative’s reach and ensuring more learners have access to functional and inspiring classroom environments.
Looking ahead, the Chair & Desk Initiative will continue to expand its footprint, deepen collaboration with regional education directorates, and strengthen sustainability measures, advancing its mission to support quality education and unlock the full potential of Namibia’s future leaders. The objective is to transform education in Namibia by addressing a pressing need in the education sector for school chairs and desks by fixing or donating new ones as we believe that a comfortable and conducive learning environment plays a crucial role in encouraging a love for learning.

The Chair & Desk Initiative takes a sustainable approach by repairing broken chairs and desks, maximizing the use of existing resources. Additionally, we will provide new furniture to schools in need, ensuring durability by reducing the need for frequent replacements.
By providing repaired and new chairs and desks, we create a conducive learning environment that directly contributes to improved academic performance, student well-being, and overall educational outcomes in Namibia.
We intend to collaborate with local Entrepreneurs, Vocational Training Centres and correctional facilities for the repairs and manufacture of school chair & desks.
